Getting started!
Welcome to meez! This is a site where you can create a personal avatar to look however you like. After creating your meez, you may be wondering what there is to do? You can join in on the forums, or even explore a virtual world and meet new friends.
.
Using the Meez maker
.
The tabs
.
The meez maker is the place where you create your meez, your workshop. Everything is pretty straight forward, but I’ll at least explain each pink tab.
.
The “Themes” tab is where you can sort items by categories. The styles and interests are a great place to start if you’re looking for themes such as “ninja” “geeky” “hip hop” etc.
.
The “change look” tab is where you personalize your face, hair, makeup, body type, eye color, nose shape, etc.
.
The “Get dressed” tab is where you change your clothes, shoes, and acessories (duh.)
.
The “Animation” tab is where you can add a motion to your avatar, such as dancing, doing a sport, and much more. Note that any animations chosen here will NOT be added to your meez in Meez Nation.
.
The “Backgrounds” tab is where you choose your backdrop for your avatar. Try the different categories to find one you like.
.
The “My Closet” tab is where everything you equip to your avatar goes. So, If you add some things to your avatar, then save, all the items, including backgrounds and animations are added to your closet so you can easily access them later. You can also save items to your closet by clicking “More info” or “More colors” beneath and item box. Now, depending on if the item is free or not, click either “buy” or “add to closet.” We will now talk more about buyable items.
.
Buyable, cash, free, VIP, and user designed box highlights
When looking through the meez maker, you will notice that some item boxes have different outlines. I’ll explain each of these “highlights.”
.
Afree Item simply means that it does not cost any coinz to equip it. They are identified by a small gray box in the corner that says “free.” Don’t worry though, items that cost coinz don’t cost REAL money. This is a free site, only a few features cost real money. For more information on coinz, refer to the “Coinz” section of this guide.
.
A buyable or coinz item is purchased with the site’s currency, “coinz.” After you either buy an item or save, it is added to your closet. The item will still show up as a buyable item, but you will not have to pay for it again. You only pay for items once and it is yours. Buyable items are identified by a box in the corner with a coinz symbol and a number amount. If you click “more info” or “more colors” you can buy an item without equiping it and it will go straight to your closet. If you are new to avatar sites like this, there is usually a currency that you can buy certain items with, without paying REAL money.
.
A VIP item is exclusively available to VIP members. The items do not come free to you once you are VIP, you must still purchase them with coinz. VIP memberships are one of the few things on this site that cost real money. For more information on VIP, refer to the VIP section of this guide. If you are a VIP and you buy an item, the item will still be available after your membership runs out. This goes for meez nation animations as well. So buy what you like while you can The only thing that does not stay after your membership is up is the “sexy dance” and “wave” dance animations that are given to you during your memberships. VIP items can be identified by a pink outline and corner box that reads “VIP.”
.
A Cash item is another thing that is bought with real money. The amounts are always pretty low, ranging from 1-4 dollars. To buy an item click “more colors” or “more info” then “buy.” After that you should be able to fill out your billing information. Cash items are identified by a corner box with the dollar amount and a green dollar sign $.
.
A user designed item is one that a meezer has designed. They are identified by a black outline and a box in the corner that says “user designed.” You can enter a clothing or background contest and submit your own design as well. Find an open contest, save the template to your computer, and start designing. Make sure you follow the contest rules very carefully. There are also precedures for the templates, so read those rules too. NEVER take images and art from the web that are not yours to add to your design. That is stealing.
.
Setting up your profile
.
Your meez profile displays all of your information. It shows your avatar, roomz (we’ll get to that shortly) age, etc. Your profile can be accessed by clicking My Meez>My profile. It should look something like this:
.
I will now show you the different components of your profile.
.
This section shows what you are wearing and who your friends are. If you see an item on another meez that you love, go to their profile and check what they are wearing to find out what it is called. The big blank box to the left is where your “about me” goes. Edit this and other features by going to My Meez>edit profile.
.
“My Roomz” is where your, well, rooms are displayed. People can also see where you have been. If you are hanging out with a friend in meez nation, and they went to a different room without you, try checking this part of their profile to see where they went. For more info on roomz, see the meez nation>rooms part of this guide.
.
The last section here is awards. It is pretty self explanatory. It just displays games you have played and awards you have received. For more on games and awards, go to the “Games” section of this guide.
.
Adding A Playlist to the Media Box
.
The media box is located below your profile (after you add to it)
You can put photos, slideshows, and playlists here. You just need a code. I’m going to explain how to add a playlist, since that seems to be a common question.
.
1.) First, go to www.playlist.com
.
2.) Create an account, its free.
.
3.)You can search artists and tracks, and create a playlist for yourself. I have already made my playlist, so lets see what to do next.
.
4.) Click on “my playlists” and select the one you want to add.
.
5.)Click “embed code”
.
6.)Select “other sites”
.
7.) Choose your playlist
.
8.) Configure your settings to your liking, then select “get code.”
.
9.) After that, a box should appear with the code for your playlist. Copy the whole thing, paste it in your media box and save.
.
Now your playlist should appear at the very bottom of your profile. If not, give it some time. Things sometimes don’t show up in the media box immediately.
.
To learn about adding pictures to the media box, go to the “exports and pictures” section of this guide.
.
Things to do
.
Now that you have your profile set up, what is there to do on meez?
.
-Visit meez nation!
Meet new friends in this virtual world. Listen to music, dance, or just hang out.
.
-Customize your avatar!
There are new items on meez.com every Thursday. Enter avatar contests in the forum, in Fashionista Central or Contests.
.
-Play games!
There are tons of games for you to choose from. Plus, winning certain games gets you a reward of coinz!
.
Meez VIP
.
What is meez VIP?
Before we get too far into this guide, you may be wondering what meez VIP is. Meez VIP is a program that allows members exclusive access to certain features of the site. You pay real money for memberships. You can get exclusive clothing, meez nation animations, and even pets. You also have access to an exclusive forum, the VIP forum.
.
Benefits
.
Buying a membership
You can access the “become a VIP!” menu from several points on the site. Just one way is to go to “Help” at the top right corner of your screen. Go to Meez VIP membership, then the pink link “Become a VIP Meez!
.
Select the plan you want, and enter your billing information.
.
Other information
After a VIP membership is up, any exclusive VIP items you bought will still be available to you. My suggestion is to buy every VIP item you think you may want before your membership expires. This rule applies to meez nation animations as well. I’m not sure if this goes for the Petz though, I’ve never been able to use it.
.
Coinz
.
What are coinz? What can I buy with coinz?
Coinz are the meez.com site currency. They can be used to buy gifts, clothes, animations and roomz. Buying something with coinz does not cost real money. When something costs coinz there should be a little gray box with an amount and a little pink symbol.
.
How can I get coinz?
.
Coinz are earned in several ways. When you first join meez, you get 2500 coinz. I’m not sure if this happens anymore, but when you log out and log in again for the first time, 1000 coinz should be waiting in a bouncing box by your avatar’s head. Again, I’m not sure if this happens anymore, but on accounts I’ve made this works.
You can earn coinz by confirming your email. Go to “my account” at the top of your screen, and if you have not confirmed your email yet, there should be a box that says “verify email.” In order to use the forums you must verify your email. All you have to do is check the mail of the account you signed up with and follow the enclosed link.
You can earn coinz by playing games with awards. (Game tab near the top of the screen.)To see if a game has awards, click the game, then go to the “awards” tab. If there is no awards tab, you can’t get coinz from playing the game. You can also see what you need to do to unlock certain amounts of coinz.
.
Sign up for email alerts! Go to My Account>Email preferences. Here you can select to receive newsletters. At the bottom of each newsletter is a password and link for you to enter and get 500 coinz.
.
You can also buy coinz with real money. To do this go to the top right corner of your screen and select “Get Coinz!” You can buy coinz through mail or get them instantly. You can also find meez “coinz cards” at stores such as best buy or target.
.
You can complete surveys and offers to get huge amounts of coinz. To do this you can go to “Get Coinz” and scroll down to either “complete and offer” or “Complete a survey”
.
Meez Nation
Meez Nation is the virtual world here on Meez.com. There’s a lot to do, and a lot to cover in this section!
.
Rules
I have not been able to find a set of official rules (please let me know if you know where to find them) But I can tell you a few basic things to keep in mind
.
-No cursing. Some of the “lighter” cuss words are ok, but others such as the f word will get you temporarily kicked out of a room.
.
-Never threaten other meezers. Remember that people CAN and WILL report you.
.
-Don’t harass other people. Use your head. It is really annoying being in a room with a couple of people arguing and harassing eachother. Remember, nobody likes or cares about “internet tough guys.” By that I mean people aren’t impressed when you fight with other people.
.
-No cybering. There’s not much to say about this.
.
Navigation
Meez nation is currently divided into 9 Hoods. There is a good chance of more being added in the future. In each hood there are roomz for you to visit, usually themed to the hood.
.
After you select a hood, let’s pick posh heights for example, a list of rooms should appear. There is a preview of what the room looks like inside. Some rooms have duplicates to accommodate their popularity. The bold pink lettering is simply the name of the room. The number tells how many people are in the room. Roomz are full when that number is 20. If a room is full you will be unable to enter. These numbers change as meezers come and go of course. You see that the first one says “Residents Only.” This means that only people who have a personal room located in the particular hood can enter. For more information on roomz, please see the “Personal Roomz” section of this guide. The pink stars represent the rating users give the room.
.
Text trigger Animations
Text trigger animations are short animations for meez nation that are triggered by the words you type. I have compiled a list for you along with a picture of the animation. I wanted to use actual animated GIFs, but I don’t really know how to do that Some animations have a few different words you can say to do the same thing. I included those as well. Also, a few animations require asterisks (*) before and after them. The first time you try a text trigger animation, it may not work. Say it a few times. After you do that it should work every time you type it.
.
Some of these animations are a little different for males. But I don't have the time or space to include both! These triggers will work for both genders, just with slightly varying animations.
.
Buyable Animations
You can also buy animations for meez nation. These are not text triggered, and will instead appear in the list of animations below your name (click and hold on your name below your avatar in a room, then select the animation you want to do)
Some animations are exclusively VIP. All others can be bought by anyone for an amount of coinz (usually a little pricey.)
.
First, I'll show you how to get these animations.
.
1.) Find an NPC (Non playable character. Okay so that's in video games but I'm using it anyways.) They stand in corners of certain rooms advertising their animations. They have bold black names. If you are still somehow unsure, roll your mouse over them and they should glow pink. Click them.
.
2.) Select the animation you want. And you're done! Now just to equip it.
.
3.) Click and hold your avatar's name under your meez. A drop down menu shows up. Scroll down to the animation you just bought and click it. The animation may or may not work the first time you try to use it. If it does not, try clicking it a few more times. Sometimes you must click or type a new animation two times before it works. After this it should work every time. (Though sometimes the site has issues and animations don't work period.)
.
(Yeah I know I didn't actually buy an animation from him. But had I this is where it would have been.)
.
Where to find animation sellers (link)
Now you probably want to know where to find all of the people who sell animations. I just don't have the space to make a guide on this. But a PERFECT guide for animations has already been created.
.
For some reason I can't link it. Here i'll hyperlink it anyways but if it doesn't work follow my instructions below.
.
http://www.meez.com/community.dm?fur...ez-nation.html
.
Go to the forum search bar and search "meez animations" or "meez nation animations"
Click the one that says "Animations in Meez Nation" by wfnectarine
.
It is VERY helpful. If you have any questions at all about where to find new animations, consult this. If anyone else asks me about MN animations I'll simply refer you to this guide.
